El Salvador COE Lot #18: La Nueva
This farm was christened as 'La Nueva' (literal translation "the New") by Rafael Duch Martínez in 2003, because when he bought it he felt it was like his newborn baby. He treats the land and his coffee plants as a garden. His philosophy on coffeegrowing is very similar to that by which he leads his life - "humbleness, generosity and tolerance" towards the farm, it's workers and everything surrounding him.
A large amount of La Nueva's success can be attributed to Rafael´s farming strategy of only pruningthe necessary branches, allowing cherries to keephealthy tissue. This light pruning lets the cherries ripen at their own pace.
"An exquisite coffee that's one of the best (if not the best) we have on offer at the moment" - Benn Crawford, National Retail Manager for Coffee Supreme.
